  1. Hey Laura,

I like your action plan topic. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our day-to-day classroom requirements we forget about the needs of our economically disadvantaged students. While trying to integrate technology into our classrooms, we often forget that not all our students have access to computers much less the Internet. Researching whether or not 1:1 laptops can help the low SES students succeed, is a great idea. I do have a couple of suggestions that might possibly help. I noticed you are retrieving TAKS score information. You might consider using documentation from AYP since we are changing from TAKS to STAAR next year. Also, you might want to go ahead and include all the steps to you action plan from beginning to end. This will help you plan each step and determine at what stages throughout the year you need to implement each step. Think of the whole process from start to finish with the end of the project in mind. Also, I know this is a big undertaking considering everything else with work and school you have to accomplish, but the more you can do yourself, then the less you will have to wait on someone to do something for you. For example, if you conduct a survey, try to conduct the survey yourself rather than asking a team of teachers to help. If you have a lot of people helping you might run into time conflicts and find yourself waiting on data from someone else. I know it is hard and will require you to do more, but in the end you can control the speed at which your research flows instead of having to wait on someone else.

  2. Hey Laura,

It looks like you've gotten off to a good start with your action research plan. You should probably add your overarching goal of the research. I was a little confused because I couldn't tell what you want your end result to be. Other than that, this looks good!
